ALS Clinic Update

We saw a nutritionist, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, social worker with the ALS Association, speech therapist, and then my dr. I'll give quick updates from each when I have more time, but for now here are the best and worst things: worst was the physical therapist pointing out where my hand is sinking in from the lack of muscle. Bob and Mom said they can't see it, but I can so now I'm going to be staring at my hands all of the time looking for changes. The best thing was the 30 min. or so that we spent with the social worker from the ALS assoc. She reviewed the ALS programs with us for Mayo and Banner Good Sam., she's part of the care team at both of them like she at my dr's office. We're making an appt. at Banner Good Sam. for a 2nd opinion. We chose that dr. because she said he's the most progressive with trials and the latest studies. She gave us a number to call to skip all of the red tape and said we should have an appointment within a week. More updates to come later when I have more time . . .

I truly could not see the difference, I wasn't being nice (not that I'm often accused of niceness!).

I am so glad that the social worker was so nice (see, she's nice) and, even more so, helpful. Is she someone you are allowed to call if you have questions?

One day at a time, Tash.
